Fort Anne National Historic Site

Fort Anne National Historic Site is situated on the Annapolis River in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, a 2-hour drive from Halifax and the airport. Port Royal and Melanson Settlement are nearby.

The grounds and trail are open year-round with no winter maintenance. The museum and washrooms are open from mid-May to Thanksgiving Day. Visit between June and September for the full experience.

Plan to spend at least two hours touring the site, though it’s easy to pass more time exploring the museum, walking the fort’s earthen walls, and picnicking along the Annapolis River.
