Let our Heritage Interpreters give you the in-depth story of the riverboats that maneuvered the tricky currents of the upper Yukon River. Hear fascinating stories of life on the river. Discover how much wood it took to keep the paddlewheel turning. Learn how the ship’s captain negotiated the rapids. Find out what the crew did if the ship got stuck on a sandbar!
A Closer Look!
This new program will transport you through the history of the sternwheelers, the Yukon, and its people. While exploring historical photos with a Parks Canada interpreter, you will gain a deeper understanding of some of the stories from this fascinating time.
