What: By the order of the Superintendent, and pursuant to Section 7.1 of the National Parks General Regulations, the use of horse drawn conveyances in the Eastern Slopes is prohibited.
Where: Eastern Slopes of Banff National Park
Why: To minimize the impact to the national park terrestrial landscape and maintain the wilderness character of the area consistent with self-reliant, no-frills backcountry experiences.
Penalty: Violators may be charged under the National Park Regulations: maximum fine $25,000
