Management plan information

Management plans are the central documents that guide Parks Canada in the protection, management, and operation of its national historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas. Reviewed every 10 years, management plans are required by legislation, guided by public consultation, approved by the Minister responsible for Parks Canada and tabled in Parliament.

Parks Canada has begun the management planning process for the Kingston Fortifications National Historic Site, which includes Fort Henry, Murney Tower, Cathcart Tower and Shoal Tower.

Management plans are developed through consultation, engagement and input from various people including Indigenous peoples, local and regional residents, visitors, and the public and community organizations.
