Whatever you paddle, there's a route to suit your style. Paddle lakes, spring-thaw rivers, or even part of the Trans Canada Trail down the Athabasca River, rivière des Rochers, and Slave River.

Lake Paddling

Paddle Pine Lake's crystal clear waters. There's a dedicated canoe launch in the Pine Lake Recreation Area, or you can start your paddle from the beach or the boat launch.

Rent canoes and stand-up paddleboards from mid-May to September from the Fort Smith Visitor Centre, then pick up your equipment at the Pine Lake Boat Launch.

Big River Paddling

The Peace, Athabasca and Slave rivers offer wilderness adventure for experienced backcountry paddlers. You can get your backcountry camping permit at the Fort Chipewyan or Fort Smith Visitor Centres.

Spring Run-off Paddling

You can paddle the Buffalo, Little Buffalo and Salt Rivers during spring run-off.
